Overview: What is Futurism?

Futurism was an avant-garde Italian movement launched in 1909 with Filippo Tommaso Marinetti’s Manifesto of Futurism. It passionately rejected the past, traditions, and all things “old,” seeking to glorify the energy and radical excitement of modern life. It was art focused on the future, defined by speed, technology, industry, and the dynamism of the city.

The style is defined by the effort to show movement and simultaneity. Futurist artists, such as Umberto Boccioni and Giacomo Balla, used techniques to depict motion as a sequence of continuous forms, often employing lines of force, fractured planes, and repetition to convey the vibration and speed of a running figure, a car, or a modern crowd. It was an aesthetic of aggressive, mechanical energy that celebrated the beauty of the machine.

Curatorial Note: Capturing Dynamic Motion

This curated collection is an homage to the explosive energy and radical vision of the Futurist movement. We feature works that vividly demonstrate the core aesthetic principles: the shattering of forms to show movement, the intense color palette, and the celebration of modern mechanization. These pieces are not static depictions but attempts to capture the very sensation of speed.

Our collection focuses on the dynamism that defines the Futurist legacy. It offers works that embody the aggressive optimism and fascination with progress characteristic of the early 20th century. Acquiring a Futurist piece means possessing a fragment of this exhilarating moment when art embraced the roar of the machine and the thrill of the future.
